Norbulingka Festival

A Celebration of Compassion, culture, and living heritage

The Norbulingka Festival is a two-day celebration rooted in the timeless values of compassion, nonviolence, creativity, and cultural preservation. It aims to bring together artists, spiritual practitioners, supporters, and friends of Tibet from around the world.

Launched in October 2025, the festival was started to commemorate and celebrate the year of compassion dedicated to His Holiness The Dalai Lama's 90th birthday. Set within the serene grounds of Norbulingka Institute, the festival offers a rare opportunity to experience Tibetan culture not as a relic of the past, but as a living and evolving tradition. Through art, music, food, dialogue, and community engagement, visitors will encounter live art demonstrations, curated exhibitions, cultural performances, interactive spaces, traditional Tibetan cuisine, Tibetan medicine consultations, and immersive experiences celebrating the richness of Tibetan artistic and spiritual traditions.

Beyond celebration, the festival also serves a larger purpose — supporting the work of Norbulingka Institute in safeguarding Tibetan art, language, and traditional craftsmanship for future generations.

A festival for the future

Norbulingka Festival is envisioned not as a one-time event, but as an annual cultural gathering that will continue to grow in the years ahead. Each edition of the festival will explore themes connected to Tibetan culture, compassion, creativity, and community, while providing a platform for artists, cultural practitioners, and younger generations to engage with living traditions in meaningful ways. By establishing Norbulingka Festival as a yearly celebration, we hope to create a lasting cultural space where heritage is experienced, shared, and sustained.

Join us this October in Dharamsala for two unforgettable days of culture, artistry, compassion, and celebration.
